HARRI AALTO
Growing up in Canada after moving from Finland at the age of five, Harri Aalto always felt something different about himself. There was this unmoving sphere of light or consciousness that surrounded his body. Whenever he moved his hand outside this safety net, it appeared darker, and he would quickly draw it back to safety. Within this space, he felt that he could do no wrong, simply flowing along without making any effort.
As he grew older, this experience expanded and remained abstract for many years. Naturally, he thought nothing of it, even though it was obviously a very basic aspect of his existence. When he was about eight or nine years old, he started experiencing a mixture of intense energy and overwhelming happiness. Every day, he felt compelled to leave the house and run/walk around the block for several hours until the energy became manageable again.
He would have long, grand insights that he felt completely unable to express out loud, along with seemingly extended physical abilities, foresight, and streams of vision that he could not explain. His school even insisted that he demonstrate these physical abilities on stage; no one, including him, could understand how he could jump so high. People felt that he was in the air just a little too long for his own good.
In high school, he noticed that he never actually fell asleep at night, and that nights and days just blended together uninterruptedly. This continued for years. When he would wake up in the morning, he felt like he was falling asleep, and when going to sleep at night, he would seem to wake up.
As a young adult, he started practicing Transcendental Meditation (TM), which truly ignited his personal experiences. He began to intuit, hear, and see the subtle fabrics of the quietest levels of his own consciousness. The pure abstract knowingness from within its own nature revealed its unified, wonderful structure of wholeness. For a number of years, he expressed these perceptions of more subtle levels of creation through watercolor and oil paintings and sculpture, working in the fine and decorative arts field.
About 30 years ago, he began to hear the hum of existence as layers of knowledge. He could see the divine heavens and started experiencing the relationships that rendered everything one unified wholeness of multiplicity. He realized how daily life, far from being a turbulent field of change, is nothing but the greatest expression of divine-to-Absolute-self-awareness.
And yet, here we all are, essentially no different from each other. Nothing much changes. His experience taught him that all of this is true for everybody. The “sphere of consciousness” that surrounded him as a child is still there but has expanded to include all the different layers of his awareness. His journey serves as a testament to the power of exploring our own consciousness and its potential impact on our lives.
